The Botanical Guardians of Berlin

In the heart of Berlin, the Botanical Garden serves as an unexpected sanctuary for three distinct families of urban foxes.

This series captures the delicate balance of wildlife and human presence without surrendering their wild essence.

The project began as a visual study of these creatures but evolved into a narrative about vulnerability and care.

Through conversations with a local resident who visits the families daily, I learned of a silent threat: a contagious disease affecting one specific fox. This individual’s isolation unable to approach humans due to illness. The resident’s dedication to tracking the spread of the disease to ensure veterinary intervention highlights a profound truth: empathy often lives in the quiet, consistent actions of individuals who refuse to look away.

Shot with the Sony Alpha 7C, these images aim to reveal the dignity of urban wildlife and the invisible bonds between species.
